Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for September 2010 were 6.8Mt This was only about one per cent higher than shipments in September 2009. Year-to-date shipments through September were 53.0 Mt, down by 3% from those of the same period in 2009. The leading producing States (Missouri, Texas, California, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, in descending
order) shipped 40% of the September total.

The leading consuming States (Texas, California, Illinois, Florida, and Ohio, in descending order) received about 32% of September’s total shipments.

Clinker production totaled 5.9 Mt in September, about three per cent higher than production in September 2009. Production year-to-date totaled 45.9 Mt, up by nearly 2% from that for the same period in 2009. The leading clinker-producing States (Missouri, Texas, California, Pennsylvania, and Alabama, in descending order) produced about 43% of the September total.
