The Polish cement sector is likely to post a rise in production levels during 2010, making up for losses in 2009 and is heading towards a fast growth in production, according to Jan Deja, head of the Polish Cement Association (SPC).

According to industry figures, after the 11 months of 2010 and December contracts, some 15.7-15.8Mt of cement is expected to have been produced in 2010, a rise of 1-1.6 per cent YoY.

For 2011, its forecast assumes growth of 7-8 per cent, which would mean a return to the record production levels seen in the 2008 boom,” Deja added.

Several cement plants have already launched, or are preparing investments leading to a potential increase to 24Mt in the next 2-3 years, to meet anticipated rises in demand.
