Lafarge Thursday said it placed a EUR1bn bond with an eight year maturity and fixed annual coupon of 5.375% to institutional investors.

The proceeds of the transaction will be used to refinance part of the group’s existing debt, Lafarge said in a statement.

The settlement and issuance of the bond are expected to occur on November 29.
