19 October 2010

India’s No. 3 cement maker Ambuja Cements Ltd said on Monday dispatches and production at its plants in the northern Himachal Pradesh state had stopped since Oct 7, due to a transport strike.

The company, in which Holcim holds about 46 per cent, did not give details of the likely financial impact of the strike.

The two plants in Himachal account for about 2.8Mt, or about 13 per cent of the company’s total annual capacity of 22Mt.
