Cement sales in Indonesia up 8% Jan-Sept
14 October 2010

Cement sales in Indonesia rose eight per cent YoY to 29.5Mt in the first nine months of this year.
Demand for cement has increased since early this year, the Indonesia cement association said, adding that the sales target of six per cent has been overshot.

Meanwhile, major producers - the Semen Gresik Group, Indocement Tunggal Prakasa and Holcim Indonesia are operating almost at full capacity, association chairman Urip Trimuryono said.

Urip said the increase in sales could have been much higher if infrastructure projects are implemented on schedule.

The strong sales were attributed mainly to brisk development in the property sector, he said.
