Colacem to begin dismantling Alicante silos

Colacem to begin dismantling Alicante silos
05 October 2010

The four silos that cement companies Cemex and Colacem operate pier/dock 14 of the Port of Alicante, next to the cruise passenger terminal, will disappear from this site at the middle of next year.

Port Authority sources said that in November or early December, the company Colacem begin dismantling one of the two horizontal silos owned by business that still have cement bagging activities in the port area.

They will as such follow the measure taken by Holcim just under a year ago, which eliminate its silo in pier/dock 14.  The decision of the cement businesses has had much to do with the intervention of the port’s president, Miguel Campoy, which since last year is in contact with these companies to accelerate the disposal of this industrial activity.
