Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for July 2010 were 6.7Mt. This was nearly seven per cent less than shipments in July 2009. Year-to-date shipments through July were 38.9 Mt, down by about 5% from those of the same period in 2009.

The leading producing states (Texas, Missouri, California, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, in descending order) shipped 40 per cent of the July total. The leading consuming states (Texas, California, Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, in descending order) received nearly 33 per cent of July’s total shipments.
Clinker production totaled 5.7 Mt in July, 9% higher than production in July 2009. Production year to date totaled 34.2 Mt, up by 3% from that for the same period in 2009.

The leading clinker-producing States (California, Texas, Missouri, Alabama, and Pennsylvania, in descending order) produced about 44 per cent of the July total.
