Titan has officially opened a EUR200m plant in Albania, the group’s Albanian unit said.

The plant, located in Kruje, 30 kilometres north of the capital Tirana, has a capacity of 1.5Mt of cement which will be marketed both at home and abroad, Antea Cement said in a statement on its website.

The plant, whose construction started in the middle of 2008, was inaugurated on Monday. It is one of the biggest greenfield investment in Albania.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank’s private sector arm, the International Finance Corporation, are also shareholders in Antea Cement.

The facility has been operational since the second quarter of the year and has significantly contributed to the group’s increase in sales in southeast Europe (SEE), Titan said in its half-year report.
