Cementos Argos, Colombia’s largest cement company, said Thursday its consolidated net profit in the first half of this year rose 20% in dollar terms from the same period a year ago to US$138m.

The company attributed the net-income increase to the growing construction activity in Colombia.

The company’s consolidated earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, a measure of a company’s cashflow, was $141 million in the first half of this year, down from US$144m in the same period in 2009.
