The Association of Cementitious Material Professionals (ACMP) said on Thursday that it had appointed Lafarge Cement South Africa CEO Thierry Legrand as its new chairperson.

The ACMP said in a media statement that it welcomed Legrand as its chairperson for the next two years, and thanked the outgoing chairperson AfriSam CEO Dr Stephan Olivier for his leadership over the past two years.

Legrand has been with Lafarge for the past 18 years, first joining the company in France for 13 years, followed by Germany, the Netherlands and for the past year he has served the company in South Africa.

The ACMP is an umbrella body for six South African clinker and cementitious material producer companies and is tasked with representing these companies’ interests in the fields of environmental stewardship, health and safety practices and community and stakeholder interaction.

The body works towards building partnerships with government, parastatals and other industry stakeholders on behalf of its members.
