Buoyed by increased sales, Ambuja cement today reported a 20.5 per cent increase in its net profit to INR391 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2010. The company had reported a net profit of INR325 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, it said in a statement.
 
During the quarter under review, net sales rose by 10.8 per cent to INR2048 crore against INR1847 crore in the year-ago period.
 
The company said that cement production for the second quarter of the current fiscal rose by 12.7 per cent to 5.5Mt, compared to 4.9Mt for the same quarter last year.
