New plant proposed for Democratic Republic of Congo

Anicet Kazunda Mutangiji, Minister of Industry received yesterday morning a large delegation of Chinese businessmen led by their partner and Congolese consultant, John Mopotu to discuss the construction of a proposed cement plant in Kimpese in the province of Bas-Congo.


The Chinese businessmen, who are partners of the Africa Union Holdings China, arrived to discuss with the  project with the Minister of Industry after the project, of which the first round of funding amounts to US$95m, was declared feasible.


In a press statement after the hearing, Mr Mopotu said: "the Minister of Industry has given government assurances to support them in achieving their extensive project within the country’s reconstruction programme".
