Hundreds of disadvantaged students will receive scholarships and financial support from Holcim Indonesia, says a representative of the cement company.

The 456 students come from all educational levels, from elementary to senior high school.
The amount of aid to be given each recipient was not specified but a representative said aid packages were intended to cover all costs for one year of study.

"We are channeling the aid to schools. Recipients may get another aid package next year depending on our evaluation of their class performance," Holcim representative Deni Nuryandin told The Jakarta Post.

Holcim Indonesia initiated a scholarship program in 1997 that has benefitted 10,542 students, Deni said. -
