Expectations of Pokot Central District residents have risen to new heights, after a cement company began construction of a factory in the area last month.

The factory, expected to cost at least Sh14 billion, will be built by Cemtech Limited, a subsidiary of India’s Cemtech Sanghi Group in Sebit.

The cement plant will produce between 1.2 and 2.4Mta of cement beginning in 2012.
