New cement venture for Oman?
08 July 2010

Oman’s two cement producers – Raysut Cement Company (RCC) and Oman Cement Company (OCC)
– with the support of a government-owned company, are planning to set up a joint venture (JV) cement company in the northern city of Al Duqm.

Senior officials of both cement companies are in discussion with an international consultant, who will conduct a feasibility study for the proposed venture, the Times of Oman reported.

The new venture will enhance the country’s cement production capabilities from the present 4.1Mta.

"The proposal is at a preliminary stage. We are in discussion with the consultants," Samidh Mukhopadhyay, chief financial officer of RCC, told ’Time of Oman’.

The promoters are yet to finalise several aspects like the installed capacity, envisaged investment and ownership pattern.
