China: building material sees faster growth in value-added output

The value-added output of China’s building materials industry increased 20.3 per cent YoY in May this year, a growth 0.5 per cent higher than in April, according to statistics released by the China Building Materials Federation.

Last month, the country’s cement output rose 18.3 per cent YoY to 171.53Mt. The factory price of cement from key enterprises stood at RMB293.5 (US$43.16) per metric tonne on average in May, up RMB 0.9 per metric tonne from the previous month.

In the period from January to May, the building materials industry saw value-added industrial output grow 20.7 per cent YoY. The country’s cement output swelled 19.1 per cent YoY to 666.43Mt.
