Lafarge to increase output at Aceh plant, Indonesia

Lafarge is investing around US$300m in the rehabilitation of its plant in Aceh, Indonesia which was destroyed by the tsunami in December 2004, a company spokesperson said.

"This year the production of our cement factory in Aceh is expected to reach 1.6Mt or 20 per cent higher than it was before the tsunami," the company`s president director, Marc Jarrault, said on Monday, at the launching of a vocational safety campaign month.

Production was started in June and after around 30 per cent of the company`s employees were killed and the plant was destroyed in the tsunami in 2004.
