Gulf Cement Company will soon hike its production capacity by 40% to 7000tpd. The company is also considering a second production line to further up the volume to 12,000tpd.

The company, whose QR1.7bn plant at Umm Baab has already started trial production at 3000tpd-4000tpd, is expected to reach the initially designed total capacity of 5000tpd in a few days, according to Al Khaliji Holding chairman and managing director Abdullah bin Nasser al-Misnad.

“The board has decided to increase the capacity to 7000tpd to cope with the market demand,” he told reporters. The production increase is expected to be accomplished in six months.

With production being increased to 7000tpd, he said the company is expected to meet a substantial part of the daily market demand.

A second production line is expected to be in place by the beginning of next year to add an additional 5000tpd, thus taking the total production capacity to 12000tpd, according to al-Misnad.
