Six Indian producers not complying emissions standards: govt

Six cement plants in the country that have been found at fault for not complying with the prescribed emission standards, the government has said.


Local press reports that the non-compliant plants are Cement Corporation of India, Bokajan in Assam, Bagalkot Cement and Industries ltd, Bagalkot in Karnataka, Travancore Cement ltd, Kottayam in Kerala, Orient Cement, Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh and two units of ACC Ltd in Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh, Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said in reply to a query.


The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has issued directions under Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act for necessary action against these plants, he added.
