Nirma Industries Ltd Wednesday, proposed before the Gujarat High Court, that it can release 46ha of land allotted for its cement plant after petitioners alleged that the land for the proposed project was on a river bed.

The proposal came after a division bench of Chief Justice S.J. Mukhopadhya and Justice Akil Kureshi observed the evidence on record that started 100ha of the allocated 268ha near Mahuva in Bhavnagar district should be given back as it constitutes a reservoir.

The hearing is scheduled for April 6.
