The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said it aims to eliminate 300Mt of outdated cement production capacity in the next three years, China Business News (CBN) quoted an unnamed insider of MIIT as saying on Thursday.

The report said MIIT would probably issue a circular on how much and what kind of cement capacities should be eliminated in April, citing the insider.

The circular will also publish specific tasks of the central and local governments, said the insider.

The State Council of China published directives on curbing excess production capacity of some industries last year. The cement industry was among them, with about 30 per cent outdated capacity.
