Taiheiyo to use more flyash
25 March 2010

Japan’s Taiheiyo Cement Corp is expanding its business that turns fly ash from household refuse into a raw material for making cement. The company’s plant in Hokuto, Hokkaido, will collect processing fees from local municipalities and introduce the fly ash into its kilns.

In addition to bringing raw material procurement costs down 10 per cent, this arrangement will help prolong the life of local municipalities’ final disposal sites.

The Hokuto plant is projected to begin full-scale acceptance of incinerator ash produced by the city of Sapporo in fiscal 2011.
