Orient eyes new cement markets to drive sales
Orient Paper & Industries, the flagship company of the CK Birla group has decided to expand its cement business, its main money spinner by selling to new domestic markets.
The company which earns two third of its revenue from cement business has constituted an internal team to study the feasibility of getting into West Bengal, Orissa, Rajasthan and Karnataka.
Mr ML Pachisia MD of Orient Paper & Industries confirmed the plan to get into newer markets. He said that “We will announce it at an appropriate time.”
A person close to the matter said the company will enter new markets next fiscal year and will cater to them from its Maharashtra plant, which has scaled up capacity to 2Mt last year. The plan is to set up production units in these markets.
