Lafarge Cement to invest in its Russian plants ecology projects

The start of new electric filter installation has taken place in Pervomaysk village of Korkino town at the Uralcement plant, the subsidiary of OAO Lafarge Cement with participation of the Consul General of France in Ekaterinburg.



Alex de Valukhoff CEO of OAO Lafarge Cement said that all enterprises of the company in 79 countries of the world including two Russian plants in Pervomayskiy and Voskresensk have to meet strict European environmental security requirements in full. It is a part of the international program Lafarge Tasks 2012.

The volume of hazardous emissions of the Lafarge cement plants have not exceed 50mg per 1000m2.

To meet these norms by the subsidiaries of the OAO Lafarge Cement, Uralcement and Voskresenskcement the company will invest RUB300m. The ecological projects developed as early as in 2007 will be implemented despite the crisis, sales fall and profitability level decrease to the negative figures.



Mr Vladislav Gusev Director of the Uralcement said two of four kilns are loaded today, however, the plant works five days a week and provides all social programs. The staff number of Uralcement has stabilised at 900 people, the average salary exceeds RUB20 000 a month.
