Nigeria’s Dangote Cement signed a US$95m deal with a unit of Germany’s Siemens AG on Tuesday for three gas turbines.

Dangote Cement, Nigeria’s largest cement producer, said Siemens International Turbomachinery would provide the turbines for its 5Mta Ibese cement plant in Ogun state, which is currently under construction.

"The three gas turbines are expected to generate 102MW of electricity for the cement plant. Construction of the plant, which began in late 2009, is expected to be completed by January 2011," the firms said in a statement.

Dangote Cement is part of Dangote Group, the biggest indigenous conglomerate in Nigeria, whose interests range from flour and sugar to real estate and oilfields. Dangote Flour and Dangote Sugar are listed in Lagos.
