Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited (TPCC) has attributed its successes in providing quality cement to consumers, countrywide, to its 22 local distributors.

TPCC claims to command about 50 per cent of the cement market share in Tanzania, with 90 per cent of buildings reportedly constructed using the firm’s Twiga brand.

It produced over 90,000 tonnes of cement, an equivalent of 7,500 tonnes monthly, last year.

"Twiga cement is available in every corner of the country much of this success is directly linked to all our stakeholders as well as the state-of-the-art technology for cement production that was officially launched last year," said TPCC Commercial Director Steinar Harstad.

Mr Harstad, speaking at a brief ceremony in Dar es Salaam today to thank its distributors, described the distributing agents as the engine of the company’s successful business.

TPCC Managing Director Lisionne Pascal said despite the odds that the local cement industry went through last year, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange listed firm excelled, thanks to the zeal and determination of the distributors.

He challenged them to brace for more opportunities, saying the company plans to increase its cement output in the country.

He urged distributors to cement the bondage with the company, promising to assist them in meeting their business goals.
