Cement exports to top 1Mta
Vietnam hopes to export 1Mt of cement this year, Nguyen Ngoc Anh, general director of the Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), has said.
After many years of shortage, there is a surplus now, he said. Therefore, it is essential to export some of it to develop the sector, he said. There are 97 cement plants in the country with a total capacity of 57.4Mt. A further 13, with a capacity of 11.7Mt, are expected to go on stream this year, he said, leaving a surplus of 2Mt.
