Indian cement companies have raised prices by INR5 for every 50kg bag in Mumbai effective Feb. 1, a source said Friday.

"The prices have gone up due to strong demand," the person told Dow Jones Newswires, but asked not to be identified.

He said the average price in Mumbai after the price hike is about INR245 a bag.
