Locals have halted cement distribution saying that Hetauda Cement Industry did not control dust emitted by its factory, reports RSS.

As part of pressing the company, they staged a sit-in at the main gate of the cement industry on Saturday. The industry, they say, has not acted on its pledge to control dust.

"The cement industry has deceived us time and again. Thus, we have stopped its distribution," said Madan Rimal, chairman of struggle committee. "If the company fails to manage its dust, we will lock out the factory."

Residents of of Hetauda Municipality have launched an agitation against the cement industry by forming a struggle committee.

The dust Hetauda cement emits has badly affected residents of wards 8, 9, 10 and 11 of the municipality and Padampokhari and Churiyamai VDCs.
