Operational costs force cement prices up, Jamaica

Carib Cement on Wednesday made the announcement pointing out that cement prices will rise by 7.5%.

The company says the increase in prices is due to the increase in haulage and fuel costs.

Carib Cement those costs increased due to the higher taxes on gasoline and the weight enforcement programme of the government aimed at reducing overloaded trucks.

The cement price increase to take effect on Monday is the first one since August 2008 and comes after several price reductions for stock
