India’s Binani Cement Ltd expects cement prices in northern India and in the western state of Maharasthra to rise soon because of continuing strong demand from the infrastructure sector, its managing director said Tuesday.

"There is a possibility of INR4-INR5 a bag (50kg) rise soon," Managing Director Vinod Juneja told Dow Jones Newswires over the phone.

Construction activity picks up during the first six months of a calendar year, Juneja said.

Cement prices in India--the world’s second-largest maker of the material--have been rising since the end of November last year.
