Shree Cement has won the prestigious first prize in Energy Conservation for Ras Unit V for the year 2009. Hon’ble Union Minister of Power Sh. Sushil Kumar Shinde presented the award .

The award was received by Sh. M.K. Singhi, Executive Director Shree Cement Limited. Every year the Ministry of Power, Government of India identifies industrial units that have made systematic and serious attempts for efficient utilization and conservation of energy and management including implementation of innovative techniques and technologies for national recognition.

Consistent management thrust on energy conservation activities and adoption of cost efficient measures in all spheres of the company operations has resulted in making Shree cement one of the most energy efficient and cost efficient companies. Shree Cement is a front runner in adopting Clean Development Mechanism and the first cement company in the world to earn carbon credits for Optimal Utilization of Clinker.

As part of the Prime Minister National Program on Climate Change, Shree is setting up a 43 MW waste heat recovery (Green Power) power plant which will further reduce CO2 emissions.

Recently Shree Cement have been awarded with two Quality Excellence Awards by National Council for Cement & Building Materials; Golden Peacock Award for Climate Security by Institute of Directors, Energy Efficiency Award and Commendation Certificate for Strong Commitment for Sustainability by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
