HeidelbergCement planning acquisitions
14 December 2009

HeidelbergCement AG is planning to make acquisitions over the medium-term, its chief executive, Bernd Scheifele, is quoted in an interview with German weekly Euro am Sonntag.

The company will "intensively consider possibilities" around the end of 2010 and is particularly interested in growth markets, Scheifele is quoted as saying. "There’s certainly need for expansion in Asia."

During the course of 2010 Scheifele also wants to negotiate new conditions on the bank contracts it established in June. "We’ll review if the current conditions are still adequate," Scheifele said, referring to assumptions that HeidelbergCement would be burdened with high debts for a long period of time. "That’s already not the case," Scheifele is quoted as saying.
