Iran cement output to reach 76Mt

Eight cement projects will come on-stream by March 2010 to boost Iran’s cement production capacity to 76Mt, deputy industries and mines minister for mineral affairs said here on Wednesday.

The Mehr News Agency quoted Mohammad-Masoud Samieinejad as saying that the country hit a new record high of 30.9Mt in cement output in the seven-month period ended October 22.

He went on to note that in addition to meeting the domestic needs, three million tons of cement products have been exported to 15 countries during the mentioned period.

According to him, Iran’s current annual cement production capacity stands at 67Mt.
