The country’s present installed capacity is 242Mt, Minister of State for Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia said.

Inaugurating the 11th NCB international seminar on ’’Cement and Building Materials,’’ here, the minister lauded the cement industry for weathering recent economic downturn by recording a growth of around 8 per cent in 2008-09.

He said 9-10 per cent growth achieved by construction industry, second largest economic activity in India after agriculture, is also laudable.
