Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) sold 13.701Mt of cement and clinker in the first 10 months of 2009, rising 9.3% from a year earlier and fulfilling 75.6% of its full-year target.

The figure accounted for 36.95% of the country’s cement consumption during period, the corporation said on its website.

Of the sum, 13.552Mt were cement and 149,000t were clinker, up 12.1% and down 66.7% on-year, respectively, Vicem said.

The corporation produced 7.795Mt of clinker and 13.453Mt of cement in Jan-Oct, down 7.1% and up 10.2% on-year, respectively.

Vicem made a pretax profit of VND1.403 trillion ($78.516 million) on revenues of VND15.976 trillion ($894 million), representing respective on-increases of 39.2% and 11.8%.
