State cement producer PT Semen Gresik Group said Tuesday its production would drop 120,000t from the targeted 18.8Mt this year, after a factory belonging to subsidiary PT Semen Padang was hit by last month’s earthquake.

“The earthquake has reduced Semen Padang’s production,” Semen Gresik president director Dwi Soetjipto said at the state-owned enterprises ministry in Jakarta.

“However, we are still optimistic we can attain the target by optimizing our other cement factories.”

He added the Semen Padang factory was still being repaired, with 75 per cent of facilities restored and in operation.
