Votorantim inaugurates Bahia plant, Brazil
07 October 2009

Votorantim Cimentos will inaugurate its production unit at its Aratu Industrial Complex, near Bahia.

The factory is the result of a BRR50m investment in cement and mortar production.

The new works at Aratu, which will serve the growing market of the Bahia capital and the metropolitan region of Salvador, is part of an extensive expansion plan of Votorantim’s production capacity up to 2011, which considers investments over BRR2bn for the construction of new plants throughout the country as well as reactivating, expanding and modernising already existing units.

The new plant will strengthen the presence of Votorantim Ciment in the north east, and more specifically, in the Bahia market, enabling the company to serve the region’s customers in a more flexible manner.
