Zambezi Portland Cement to resume production, Zambia
15 September 2009

The US$40m Zambezi Portland Cement (ZPC) plant in Ndola will start production before the end of the month, company receiver and manager, Robert Simeza has said.

Mr Simeza said all the necessary materials needed for production had been put in place at the plant which has a cement capacity of 330,000tpa.

"We are now producing silt and the first consignment of cement will come out of the plant in the next two weeks," Mr Simeza said.

ZPC, which was placed under receivership mid this year, operates a US$40m cement plant in Ndola’s light industrial area.

The company went into receivership after misunderstandings among its shareholders over the mode of payment of a multi-million dollar loan the company got from the PTA Bank.
