Cemex to lay off 50 Fairborn workers, US
Cemex Inc plans to lay off as many as 50 workers at it’s Fairborn facility, located on Linebaugh Road in Bath Township.
The layoffs will take place Oct. 17, according to a notice filed with the state of Ohio.
The move is a result of excess inventory because of reduced demand, said Jennifer Borgen, a spokesperson for Houston, Texas-based Cemex USA.
Borgen said production at the Fairborn plant will shut down temporarily but packaging operations will continue at the site. About 50 workers will remain following the layoffs and the plant will still ship bagged and bulk cement orders. She was unsure how long the layoffs would last.
