ACC is in the midst of drawing up ambitious plans for the next stage greenfield and brownfield expansion.

"Our next round of capacity expansion is at the Board room stage now. It will have to go through the evaluation by the middle of the year," ACC Managing Director Sumit Banerjee told the reporters.

Banerjee said that ACC may opt for both greenfield and brownfield expansions, but the site of the expansions would depend upon the availability of raw material and the proximity to the market.

ACC, which is the largest cement manufacturer with 12 per cent market share, has 22.63Mt of capacity.

The company has spent around INR1600 crore in FY’09 and will be spending INR1400 crore in the current fiscal on capacity expansion, he said, adding the company may also look at acquisition though nothing is on plate now.

"We are not after the number game. Our capacity is growing at par with the national average of cement growth of about 10 per cent. We will follow the market trend in future as well," Banerjee said.
