The new Holcim (US) Cement Plant in Ste. Genevieve is still on target for completion later this summer. Company officials have said the plant is in the commissioning and start-up phases.

When production is in full swing the plant payroll is expected to exceed $10 million each year. It is also expected to generate local taxes totaling $25 million a year.

The plant is located on nearly 3,900 acres in Ste. Genevieve and Jefferson counties. The facility occupies 1,700 acres, which includes the quarry and harbor areas. Another 2,200 acres are being preserved as a conservation easement.
