Growth in prices due to State support, Kazakhstan

The increase in prices for cement from KZT8000 to 16,000/t was due to increased state support for the construction industry, Chairman of the Association of Constructors of Kazakhstan, Aydyn Rahimbaev, stated in an interview with journalists following a selective government session, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"All programs were launched simultaneously: the state support program for construction companies, the Samruk-Kazyna program, and the program for the purchase of apartments. Demand for cement has decreased – both seasonal and regular, therefore, costs grew from KZT 8 to 16 - 18 thousand," Rahimbaev said.

"Cement imports have been restricted from China or Russia as they are unprofitable. This is only beneficial when the price for cement exceeds KZT 18 - 20 thousand…," he said, according to Kazakhstan Today.
