Texas Industries Inc., known as TXI,, the state’s largest cement producer, is proposing to establish a rock quarry on 2000 acres that abut Edgar’s property.

The quarry would include a conveyor belt possibly four miles long to connect the quarry pits to a facility.

The City of Austin is holding a public meeting on the plan. The project needs to pass several hurdles to gain approval.
