The Roli investment joint stock company broke ground on a 1.2Mt cement plant in Vietnam’s central Quang Tri province on June 26.

The construction, tapping an investment of nearly 1 trillion VND (US$56m) during the first stage, is to be undertaken by the Quang Tri Construction Joint Stock Company within 18 months and the plant is scheduled to commence production in the first quarter of 2011.

In the first stage, the plant will use the modern rotary kiln technology to produce over 480,000 tonnes of clinker and 600,000 tonnes of cement per year.
