Binani Cement Ltd is planning to acquire cement companies to expand its presence beyond India’s northern and western markets, its managing director said.

"We are scouting for cement plants and companies across India. If something good comes our way, we will look at it seriously," Vinod Juneja told Dow Jones Newswires in a recent interview.

He said the plants must have a capacity of at least 1 to 1.5Mta.

The company’s factory in the western Indian state of Rajasthan now has a capacity of 6.25Mta, which will be raised to 6.5Mta by the end of the fiscal that started April 1, Juneja said.
