Lucky Cement Corporation, one of Taiwan’s listed cement producers, will set up a second cement plant in northern Vietnam. Once the second plant commences production, the company will achieve annual output of 8Mt.

An executive of Lucky Cement said its chairman L.C. Chen had invested in a cement plant in northern Vietnam. Upon startng production in May 2005, the plant achieved capacity of 2.2Mt and began making profits in 2006. In 2007, Chen invested US$160m to establish a second production line, which raised the annual capacity to 4Mt.
