Pati cement factory development postponed

he Central Java provincial administration has postponed the development of a cement factory in Sukolilo district, Pati regency, because the land acquisition process for both the factory and exploration sites remains unresolved.

The launching of the cement factory development, which is the result of cooperation between the provincial administration and state-owned cement company PT Semen Gresik, was initially to be held Saturday.

"We want a win-win solution in acquiring the land for the project," Central Java Governor Bibit Waluyo told reporters in the provincial capital of Semarang on Friday.

"The people should sell their properties because they understand the situation."

He called on his people, whose lands were within the planned project, to prioritize deliberation in seeking an agreed price for their land.

"Don’t be stubborn. Don’t just say no without any clear argument."

He added the provincial administration acted only as a facilitator during the negotiations.

"The final decision rests with the Pati regency administration, PT Semen Gresik and the people," he emphasised.
