Chettinad Cement to expand capacity in TN unit

Chettinad Cement Corporation Ltd plans to add a 2Mta cement production line at its Dindigul unit in Tamil Nadu.

According to information provided by the company to the stock exchange, its board has accorded in principle approval to set up a second line at its Dindigul cement plant in Karikkali village where it has a 1.4Mt unit and a 15MW captive power plant.

Company officials declined to elaborate on the investment details and plans. However, based on current estimates the investment could be in the vicinity of INR500 crore.

This is the second such expansion announced by the company which has a total installed capacity of 2.2Mt.

Its other unit is in Puliyur, Karur district, where it has a capacity of 0.6Mt.
