Vietnam begins building 1.8Mta plant

Viet Song Long Co. has begun building a cement plant with a capacity of 1.8Mta in the central region, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper reported Monday, citing a company official.

The plant, located in Thua Thien Hue province, 600km south of Hanoi, will cost VND3.7trn (US$217.6m) to build, the state run media said.

The plant is expected to start production in May 2011, the report said.
